'Raj Dharma or Raj Drama', @ ✒GBG⚔

We Indians are very 'Dharmic/Religious' by default, but we and our stupidity has reduced dharma to a mockery, wherein we think lighting candles and agarbattis, singing hymns, praying, offering Prasad to deities, or just about offering money, rumalas or chaders at places of worship is what being religious is all about.

We have conveniently chosen to forget that, 'Dharma' does not mean religion, as  is commonly misunderstood,  but  in fact DHARMA is the righteous performance of one's duties.

During the battle of Mahabharata,  caused by, Kaurava's greed for power and wealt, but in the end won by Pandavas, Shri Hari had proclaimed in his song, the 'Bhagavad Gita', his sermon during the battle, to Arjuna,  that the 'Good' must in all circumstances prevail over the 'Evil'.

Although Krishna's Gita is the most famous of the lessons of the great epic, the Mahabharata, but there are many more great lessons hidden in the epic, one of them being Bhishma Pitamah's  lesson in good governance imparted to Yudhistra, and Bhishma's lesson to Yudhistra is all about 'Raj-Dharma'.

Going by what Krishna and Bhishma, both had said, I verily proclaim that to ensure dharma in one's personal life, is an individual's responsibility, where as to ensure this in society or state, is singularly the zimmedari or responsibility of a king, a ruler or a leader of  ruling party in a democracy, thus it is called Raj Dharma.

According to Shri Bhisham Pitamah, "Rajdharma  is 'Sine Qua Non' to a ruler's policy as it provides welfare and security to an entire nation.”

Sadly although, what we are seeing in India today is, not 'Raj Dharma', but 'Raj Drama'.

The media is busy propagating, not truth, but any thing and every thing about a person as 'Truth', which is immensely unfortunate.

Sadly our Prime minister and his fawning puppies, both from political class, aswellas the media, have conveniently chosen to ignore both Shri Krishna and Bhisham Pitamah..

Simply put if the ruler of a state performs his righteous dharma, the rest of the administration presided over by him, will perform it's duties righteously, or else the down the line adminstrators will most shamelessly use  power invested in them by the state, only to exploit and abuse the ordinary citizens.

Bhishma Pitamah further tells Yudhishtar,  that for kings, it is quintessential to adhere to nothing else but  truth, or else  be prepared to lose power and face both.

In the end, all I have to say to the powers that be is,  get your act straight or be ready to be booted out of power.

No better options, or even no options might readily seem available for the present set of rulers, but letting any one embedd in power for more than 5 years,  could be suicidal for India.

I hope the Indians are listening.
