WHY SAY NO TO RELIGION...✒ by Guru Balwant Gurunay.
©  Confrontation between religious superstition and science is evident today, but most shocking is the fact that millions of fools, who have never questioned their religious beliefs, never tried testing their faith, are even today, ready to kill each other in the name of religion, or die  for, their untested faith and centuries old lifestyles.
History is full of instances where religion has only proven to be destructive for humanity. Either religion works as a tool of political control or else a pure money making venture.
Have no doubt on the fact that religion is not about ethics and morality, as ethics and morality can very much survive even in the absence of religion and all the flimsy crap that it comes with.
I will give you two examples. Galileo Galilei was arrested  because he held that the Earth moves around the Sun .  Roman church held him for blasphemy, as they  truly “believed”  the earth to be the center of out solar system, and even universe.   Eventually the church had to accept that the earth was not the center of universe and that even in the solar system it's the earth that moves around the Sun.
Alas it was not their God, who corrected them but a thinking mind. After this incident Galileo Galilei had said, “By denying scientific principles, one may maintain any paradox.”
Before giving the second example, I need to mention here that science flourished in Arabic civilization quite up to the middle ages. It is then that the scientific attitude of Arabs got choked by fundamentalist Islam.
It is around 14th to 16th  centuries, that in the middle east, a clerical faction of Islam, just to be more dominant,  choked the scientific thought and scientific pursuit absolutely.  To check this out one may refer to  a book called Islamic Technology,  An Illustrated History by Ahmad Y. al-Hassan and Donald Hill, published by Cambridge University Press.
Most tragic example of religion destroying scientific method in the islamic world  is that of a muslim scientist named Taqi al-Din.
Taqi al-Din had made  an observatory in Galata, Istanbul, and so good the Observatory was that scientific community compared it with famous Danish astronomer, Tycho Brahe's Observatory.
But what happened to  Taqi al-Din's Observatory ?
Taqi al-Din’s observatory was demolished by fuddu religious thugs in 1577. The Donkey headed Sultan was informed by his fox headed Chief Mufti, out of sheer jelousy, that Taqi al-Din was doing evil in path of Allah. So the Observatory was razed to ground.  No Allah came to stop the destructive Sultan, the scheming Mufti or their stupid army from destroying a great Observatory made so laboriously by a great astronomer. As a result post 15th century the scientific output from the Islamic world is negligible.
Thus, my appeal to all fellow humans is not to be attached to conventional religions, denounce them openly, and adopt 'Three Life Principles' of Guru Balwant Gurunay, to live by.
1.  Do unto other's as you would not mind being done to you. Let all ethics, morality, social discipline, law emerge from empathy, sympathy and humaneness rather than from religion.
2.  Never accept any thing as true, how so ever falsely comfortable it may seem, if it has not been empirically tested and proven and your thinking mind is forced to believe in it based on faith, myth, pseudo logic or plain surrender.

3.  Do not follow any external symbols in name of any religion, which distinguish and seprate one human from another, creating a false visible separation, betwen people, or building in them, a false pride.
