1. Let's look at the concept of nation first.
2. We all know that a nation is a stable community of people, formed on basis of commonality.
3. The commonality of a community, could come from a common territory, common economic life, a common culture as a result of a chosen life style, or psychological make-up of people manifested in a common culture.
4. So if we look at all these aspects separately, Roma Gypsies very well qualify to be considered as a nation based on their lifestyle, but Romas are spread out all over Europe and Asia, and their actual nationalities differ.
5. Thus we cannot on basis of lifestyle alone, call for All Roma's of the world to gather in one territory to form a Roma Gypsy Nation. It would be a fruitless exercise.
6. Just as a life style alone can not become the basis for building a modern nation, similarly a religion alone can not become the basis for creation of a nation.
7. As most of the religions are today internationally spread over a vast global area, in vastly different nationalities, let's let them be, and continue to thrive harmoniously and co-exist with their micro environment, as they tune in with their macro environment aswell.
8. Although religion has repeatedly been used as a tool by politicians to create calls for creating new states, but it's basically a flawed appeal. [ It has happened in the past, in case of partition of India, but it happened at a great loss to humanity.]
9. In the modern global setup, the demand for creation of Khalistan or Islamic nation etc is thus flawed, and puerly politically motivated, as those having faith in these religions, are widely spread out over many different aswellas politically and economically, very well established nation states, and these states/countries are united by territorial and legal integrity.
10. Inspite of the presence of culturally, racially, and linguistically, very very different groups and subgroups of people as parts of these nations, their national identity is much stronger than the identity of these subgroups.
11. On similar grounds, any call for a Hindu or Christian nation is very flawed, and politically motivated alone.
12. Today a nation could have linguistic and religious diversity, but it should have territorial, historical, cultural and leagal (Constitutional), integrity, first and foremost .
13. If we want to use the term connotatively alone, well people do use the word 'nation', as Muslim, Sikh, Hindu or Christian nations, but technically it does not hold any true merit, and if those using the word 'nation' conjoined with any religion insist upon doing so, than they lose their argument against each other by default.
14. The concepts of Muslim, Hindu, Sikh or Christian nations are all rogue concepts basically , and if the modern state fails to check these activities, this phenomena could, or it rather already has, become the cause of endless human tragedy of people being divided and exploited by few clever men, on basis of religious identity alone.
15. Modern definition of a nation should be understood, as a stable and làsting gathering of communities of people living on a territory with a single legal entity, and this is what I mean, by nation.
16. My nation is India, and I take pride in being an Indian, and for those living in Canada, their nation is Canada, and they should take pride in being Canadians first and foremost.
17. Today India has emerged as a culture coloured by many subcultures, thus this colourful diversity holding it self together, is the beauty of India.
18. Historically the territorial and cultural integrity of this vast nation is older than the Vedas even.
19. I take pride in belonging to the Indian nation. Thousands of Martyrs, have sacrificed their lives for this nation, in the war of Independence, and wars and internal security actions thereafter.
20. If the leadership of India, had not agreed to the division of this nation on RELIGIOUS basis, We would have progressed beyond imagination.
21. I assure you that a day will come sooner than later, when Pakistan, India and BD, will unite as a federation, for the benefit of all their citizens and for the long lasting peace and prosperity of this region.
