1. Mauser C96 is a semi automatic pistol originally produced by Germans from 1896 to 1937. It was designed by Feederle brothers, and manufactured by Mauser company.
2. Weapon's weight is 1.13 kg and its length is 312 mm, or12.3 inches. It can be designed for firing various sized cartridges, ranging from 7.62 to 7.63×25mm Mauser, 7.65×21 Parabellum (Rare), 9×19mm Parabellum and .45 ACP. The weapon supports a 10 round internal magazine fed by a stripper clip, or has 20 or 40 round removable magazine. It's a short recoil weapon, having an effective firing range of 150–200 m (160–220 yds). It has a provision of detaching and attaching a butt, which makes it extremly stable.
3. More than a million, that is 1100,000 original weapons are said to have been made by Mauzer Arsenal of Germany. Unlicensed copies of the gun have been manufactured in Spain, China, and NWFP of Pakistan.
4. The gun has been used in different theaters of war as well as crime world over. List of wars where the weapon was used includes, Spanish American War, Jungle Movement of Gilan, Second Boer War, Boxer Rebellion, Xinhai Revolution, World War I, German Revolution, Irish War of Independence, Irish Civil War, Finnish Civil War, Mexican Revolution, Russian Civil War, Easter Rising, Chaco War, Spanish Civil War, Second Sino-Japanese War, World War II, Chinese Civil War, First Indochina War, Korean War and Vietnam War.
5. Very few officers of this generation have ever fired this weapon. In the second world war, it was a favourite weapon of special forces on covet missions, like the Uzi or Scorpion of today. Mauser C96, also called broom handle is still an in demand weapon, deadly and unfailing.
