1. Tiffany Maria Brar, was born in an army family. She became blind as a newborn, due to an overdose of oxygen. Tiffany Brar, is the daughter of Lt. Gen. Tej Pratap Singh Brar, and mother Leslie Brar.
2. Her story is a story of determination, gritt and dedication. She is a SPECIAL Teacher and the founder of the 'Jyothirgamaya Foundation', a non-profit organization whose mission is to help blind people gain skills needed for a successful and smooth existence in all spheres of life.
3. Jyothirgamaya, which means ‘from darkness to light,’ is a mobile school that is based on the idea that if students can not reach a school, let the school reach them.
4. Tiffany is a social activist and trainer, who works to create awareness on dealing with disability, as well as methods to overcome all obstacles. She is an advocate of building an inclusive society, where the physically or mentally challanged folks do not feel ignored or outcast.
5. Today this 26-years-old teacher, entrepreneur and motivational speaker has created history and won National Award for 'Best Role model' from the President of India
6. Tiffany is a multilingual, as in absence of vision, she trained her ears to be her sight, and in the process mastered her skills in communicating in more than 5 languages.
7. Tiffany's story would be incomplete without mentioning the name of Vinita Akka, the children's help at Tiffany’s hostel. Vinita Akka affectionately taught Tiffany, how to dress herself up, fold clothes, make her bed, and do all those seemingly ordinary things that we do in our daily lives.
8. Tiffany is a role model for many, visually challanged persons.Her mother's role in educating her, her father's support, the god-motherly role played by Vanita Aakka, and her own determination and clarity of mind is worth saluting.
9. Tiffany now lives in Thiruvananthapuram, where she runs her NGO.
