🚩How Traditions are Set.🚩@🖊GBG⚔

1.  I will begin with wishing all my countrymen a Happy Republic  Day. May every citizen and our Nation Prosper and be blessed with an honest and nationalistic government.

2.  Today I would like to tell you a special story about India's Sikh Regiment, and the fact how some very interesting traditions are set in army and elsewhere.
#सिक्ख  #रेजिमेन्ट, #गणतंत्रदिवस, #Republicday  #गुरुद्वारा  #शीषगंज, और #पुष्पवर्षा की कहानी.

3.  Today, as the regimental contingents of Indian army will march on the Rajpath, saluting the head of the republic, our honourable president, every contingent will salute only once, and  that to the President of India.

4.  The Sikh Regiment salutes twice although. The second salute is given to Gurudwara Sheesh Ganj.  Gurudwara administration returns this honour by supplying rose petals  to public to be showered on the marching soldiers of regiment.

5.  This tradition was started by Col. now Brig Inju Gakhal (Retired),  when he led the regimental contingent in 1979.

6.  As per his account, during a practice march when he instinctivly saluted the place of great sacrifice of 9th sikh guru , the people were surprised, but on the 'D' day when he  saluted the Gurudwara in honour of the Guru, whose Sikhs he led, he was pleasantly surprised by the shower of rose petals by the spectators from both sides. Petals were provided by the Gurdwara administration.

7.  In words of Brig Inju Gakhal, "On 26 jan 1979, as we approached Sheeshganj Gurdwara Sahib, I ordered "Dahinay Dekh", and lowered my sword.  Rose petals were showered on us from both sides of the road amidst loud jaikaras of Sat Shiri Akal, as also the Sikhs ensured we get hot Karah Prashad, after we end our Parade. That really gave my marching contingent a super high, Some thing I recall with fondness." This tradition set by a thoughtful Brigadier, will continue, till the traditionl roue  continues..
